Students transferring from an institution outside the United States

For purposes of admission to Concordia University, international students are defined solely on their citizenship/residency status. If a student does not hold citizenship or permanent residency in the United States and will require an F-1 student visa to attend Concordia, the student is classified as an international student.

Concordia University defines an international student to be a non-U.S. citizen or non-U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder). Exceptions apply if you are currently in the U.S. in one of the following statuses: Refugee, Asylum, Parolee, or Confidential Entrant.

Application Steps:

  • Apply online for free or use the Common Application.
  • Submit your transcript to one of our approved evaluation partners. Request a course-by-course evaluation be sent to Concordia University-Portland.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation. Your references can use our downloadable recommendation form (PDF) or mail a personal letter.
  • Submit your proof of English proficiency.
  • Submit your essay responding to one of these topics.
  • Submit either an SAT-I or ACT score.
  • Required minimums: SAT 480 on Critical Reading portion, ACT composite of 18
  • Codes: SAT 4079, ACT 3458
  • Submit either a TOEFL or IELTS score.
    • Required minimums: TOEFL 71, IELTS 6.0
    • Code: TOEFL 4079

* Successful completion of ELS 112 will also serve as test scores

If you are transferring a visa from another school within the United States, send a copy of your current I-20 and the U.S. Transfer Information form (PDF) signed by the International Student Advisor at that school.
